Is the UK still open to Ghanaian students?
Yes, under current student-visa rules. Those rules can move. We file to the version in force, not to a group-chat freeze.
United Kingdom
The United Kingdom is the destination Ghanaian families name as often as America. It is also expensive, rule-heavy, and unforgiving of a thin funds story. UCAS, CAS, IHS, TB testing, and a student visa that has to add up.

Students with a transcript a UK admissions office can read, English at the programme’s bar, and a budget that covers tuition, the Immigration Health Surcharge, and nine months of living costs. Undergraduate files often run through UCAS. Master’s files go to the university.
If the only plan is ‘any university that will send a CAS’, the visa application will hear that. Entry clearance officers have heard it all year.
We shortlist courses the grades can defend, including the IHS on the invoice, not only the tuition poster. After an unconditional or CAS-ready offer, the school issues a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies. That number starts the visa file. It does not finish it.
Dependants are not the old story. Most taught master’s and undergraduate routes no longer match the family-visa rumour still circulating in Accra WhatsApp groups. We will not sell a route the rules do not support.
Maintenance funds have holding-period rules. A borrowed account that appeared last Tuesday is a classic refusal. TB testing is required for Ghanaian applicants on the current UK list, at Home Office-approved clinics in Accra and Kumasi. The TB guide names the clinics as of the April 2026 GOV.UK update and tells you to re-check the live list before you pay. Do not collect a suitcase of medical paper before the offer exists.
Policy moves. We file to the instructions in force, not to a rumour about a freeze. Read the student visas page for how this stretch is billed: processing first, the second fee after approval.

Ghanaian applicants for UK visas of more than six months generally do. Use an approved clinic. Read the UK visa and TB test guide, then confirm against the live Home Office list before you pay.
Usually not on taught undergraduate or master’s routes as they used to work. Ask in the consult if your course is one of the narrow exceptions. Do not budget for dependants as a default.
A consult with tuition plus IHS plus nine months of rent is a consult we can work.
